Women’s cricket: a huge summer ahead in England and Wales

It’s a huge year for women’s cricket in England and Wales. England will face the No.1 team in the world, Australia, in what is set to be an enthralling Ashes series in June and July. And then in August, stars from both nations will go straight into the domestic competition, The Hundred, which features eight women’s teams battling it out alongside the men’s to be crowned champions.

2023 Women’s Ashes

The Women’s Ashes multi-format series will start on Thursday 22 June 2023 and this summer’s showdown is expected to break all attendance records for women’s international fixtures in England. It is the first year that both the men’s and women’s Ashes are being played alongside one another, with equal prominence, at the biggest grounds.

Heather Knight’s team will start their Ashes campaign with a Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham – the first Test fixture England’s women have played over five days on home soil and their first visit to Trent Bridge since 2000. In addition, Edgbaston in Birmingham and Lord’s and the Kia Oval (both London) will play host to their first ever Women’s Ashes international Twenty20s (IT20) – the 20-over format of the game.

The seven-match series will culminate with one-day internationals (ODI) – the 50-over format of the game – at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol, The Ageas Bowl in Southampton and the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.

Both England men and women will be attempting to regain The Ashes, after Australia won the two respective series down under in 2021-2022. Tickets can be bought at ecb.co.uk/tickets
