#ILOVEUNITED, Manchester United’s live virtual fan event, is going global for the Premier League fixture against Chelsea on 28 February and it will have a huge focus on the USA.
The latest edition of the event – which will be streamed worldwide across United’s website, app, MUTV channel, Facebook and YouTube platforms – will feature bespoke content aimed at the club’s fanbase in the US and include exclusive behind-the-scenes access and insight into the first team.
The 90-minute pre-match programme will be hosted by MUTV presenter Mark Sullivan, who will be joined at Old Trafford by co-host and NFL legend Osi Umenyiora, and live from Los Angeles by Lord of The Rings actor Dominic Monaghan. Both lifelong fans of the club, they will be sharing their best United memories and pre-match analysis alongside club legends Denis Irwin and Dion Dublin.
The programme will also include an exclusive in-depth interview with US World Cup winner and Manchester United Women’s forward, Tobin Heath, and live pre-match insights from men’s first-team manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sean Jefferson, the club’s director of partnerships, said: “Manchester United has been taking its physical #ILOVEUNITED event all over the world for the past eight years, bringing thousands of fans together in their support for the club, many of whom might never have the chance to visit Old Trafford but still support us week-in, week-out.
“At a time when fans in many parts of the world are restricted from viewing matches together because of the pandemic, we have found new ways of uniting our supporters. The virtual #ILOVEUNITED event gives fans the platform to enjoy entertaining bespoke content in the safety of their homes, whilst still feeling a part of our global network of fans.”
