BLAST Pro Series 2019 global final can bring ‘lasting esports legacy’ to Bahrain

Bahrain’s minister of youth and sports affairs, Ayman Tawfiq Almoayyed, believes the BLAST Pro Series global final can have a lasting legacy on the country’s esports industry. 

It’s been announced that the 2019 final of the esports tournament will be held in Bahrain from 13-14 December and it is expected to be the biggest esports event ever in the Middle East region.

Almoayyed said: “Esports is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. Bahrainis are passionate fans and players, and we are excited by the opportunity to bring this world-class tournament to the kingdom. 

“We look forward to hosting the teams and their fans from around the world, and building a lasting legacy for the sport in Bahrain and beyond.”

‘Engaging and interactive’

The 2019 BLAST Pro Series features six international tournaments held ahead of the global final in Bahrain. This year, events are held in Sao Paulo (March), Miami (April), Madrid (May), Los Angeles (July), Moscow (September) and Copenhagen (November).

Robbie Douek, CEO of BLAST Pro Series, added: “Bahrain is the perfect place to hold the 2019 global final.

“There is already a strong and engaged base of fans, an emerging scene of talented young players, and a country famed for its welcoming hospitality. 

“We will be bringing four of the world’s best teams to battle it out for the chance to be crowned champion.
