The Formula 1 Exhibition to open at Excel London in August 2024

London has been announced as the next city to host The Formula 1 Exhibition, following ground-breaking runs in Madrid, Vienna and Toronto. Opening on 23 August 2024 at ExCeL London, visitors will have the chance to get up close and personal with pieces of motorsport history and delve into the world of F1.

Having launched to widespread critical acclaim in Madrid, the London show is set to be the biggest F1 exhibition show to date, with a number of new additions, including soon-to-be-announced iconic F1 cars, and historic memorabilia.

New for London, a partnership with Silverstone Museum will bring to life unique stories from the British Grand Prix. State-of-the art racing simulators using official F1 gaming equipment will also feature, giving visitors the chance to experience what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of an F1 car as they race around the iconic Silverstone track. All racers will be entered into a monthly prize draw to win tickets for the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Several years in the making, the exhibition is hosted across six purpose-built rooms designed in collaboration with award-winning curators and film-makers, to create an immersive adventure through the past, present and future of F1.

With contributions from legendary teams, drivers and experts, including the charred chassis remains from Romain Grosjean’s 2020 Bahrain crash and insights into the cutting-edge technology behind Pirelli’s new FSC tyres, the exhibition combines spectacular audio-visual design, rare film and imagery, engineering displays and iconic grand prix cars to deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer of Formula 1, said: “It’s fitting to bring the F1 Exhibition to the UK capital and pay tribute to the British teams and drivers and personalities who have etched themselves into F1 history. The F1 Exhibition has been incredibly popular since its launch in Madrid, and successful runs in Vienna and Toronto prove that it is a great way to engage with both hardcore fans and new audiences, whilst extending F1’s reach beyond the racetrack. London is one of the most cultural vibrant cities in the world, and we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to the show.”

Timothy Harvey, lead curator and producer of The Formula 1 Exhibition, added: “It’s been incredible to see how fans around the world have reacted to the exhibition since opening last year. London was always going to be an incredibly special location for us, so I am looking forward to what’s to come. Each show recognises the national heritage of its host location, and as Britain is the home of racing this will be a really special show. There’s also some fantastic soon-to-be-announced additions coming to London, including incredible cars – we can’t wait to open our doors!”

Visitors start their journey by passing through the first room “Once Upon A Time In Formula 1” where a specially-built gallery experience provides a spectacular journey through the sport’s most defining moments. New for London, a partnership with Silverstone Museum will bring to life the legendary British Grand Prix’s role through the history of racing. “Design Lab” then takes visitors inside an F1 factory with contributions from Williams Racing and Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber among others.

“Drivers and Duels” then tells the stories of the sport’s iconic drivers, their legendary races and their pathway to Formula 1, with Lewis Hamilton’s kart as well as a unique film collaboration with Pierre Gasly and his family set to feature. The fourth room, “Revolution By Design”, presents the dazzling breakthrough innovations in the sport and explores the new technologies that lie ahead, with contributions from McLaren Racing, Scuderia Ferrari, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, former driver and F1 Academy managing director Susie Wolff, plus many more.

Visitors then enter “Survival” where the remains of Grosjean’s burnt out HAAS race car from his dramatic 2020 crash in Bahrain serve as a homage to the safety innovations in the sport. The show then reaches its climax at “The Pit Wall” – a show-stopping cinematic and immersive experience that allows fans to relive the greatest moments in F1 history like never before.

Ticket prices start from £14 for children (ages 5-16) and £25 for adults (17+). Group bookings and special VIP Podium tickets are also available, as well as opportunities for exclusive corporate events. For more information see f1exhibition.com/london
