Major League Baseball (MLB) returns to London in June 2023 with St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs facing off for a two-game series in the UK’s capital city. Taking place at the baseball-configured London Stadium, the games will be held on 24 and 25 June.
When asked about the London Series, Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman said: “Sick. Unreal. Honestly, London is on my bucket list. It’s one of those cities that I’m going to hit when I’m done playing the game. Obviously, I travel a ton. But playing baseball, I’m not necessarily wanting to go to in November or the winter time, so I’m glad we get to get there in the summer. I’ve had a lot of friends who go to London all the time, and they have nothing but great things to say. Expanding the game to greater regions, that’s great for MLB.”
In 2019 MLB held its first regular-season games in Europe with the Yankees playing the Red Sox at London Stadium. The Cardinals and Cubs were set to play in London in 2020, but the series was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2023 London Series is part of the MLB World Tour, which will also see regular-season and exhibition games played in Asia, Mexico, Latin America and Europe through to the 2026 season.

Baseball fans will also get the chance to enjoy all the festivities of the London Series at a dedicated “Trafalgar Square Takeover” from Friday 23 June to Sunday 25 June.
Free to attend and open on a first-come, first-served basis, the Trafalgar Square fan festival will feature the MLB Home Run Derby X The Cage. According to MLB, the game “blends real life and virtual gameplay using the latest ball tracking technology”. Set in a cage structure, players will be able to “send homers high into the iconic London skyline, reaching Nelson’s Column and beyond”.
To open the London Series weekend, Friday night will see Legends from four of MLB’s most famous clubs – Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals – enter the Cage and compete to be crowned “Home Run Derby X – The Cage Champion” in front of Nelson’s Column.
Other attractions at the fan festival include live screenings of both matches between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, as well as food and drink, music and merchandise. See more at mlb.com
