The United Cup is a premier mixed-gender team tennis event that is held in Australia, offering a unique format where men and women compete together for their respective countries. Taking place in Perth and Sydney from 27 December 2024 to 5 January 2025, the United Cup serves as a high-profile lead-up to the Australian Open, and it has quickly gained recognition for its exciting team format, national pride, and competitive spirit.
An ATP-WTA event presented in partnership with Tennis Australia, the tournament features teams from 18 nations, with each team consisting of both male and female players. Teams face off in a series of singles and mixed doubles matches, where each country’s top male and female players showcase their talents. The United Cup offers fans the rare opportunity to see men’s and women’s stars join forces, providing a dynamic and entertaining twist to traditional tennis events. The competition’s structure includes round-robin stages, followed by knockout rounds leading to the final.
One of the United Cup’s standout features is the mixed doubles match, which can be decisive in determining the outcome of a tie. The mixed doubles aspect highlights the importance of both genders in shaping the team’s success, making the event inclusive and balanced.
The third edition of the United Cup will see group stage matches at the RAC Arena in Perth from Friday 27 December to Tuesday 31 December 2025. The quarter-finals in Perth will be held on Wednesday 1 January 2025. Group stage matches at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney will run from Saturday 28 December 2024 until Wednesday 1 January 2025. The quarter-finals in Sydney will be held across from 2-3 January. Sydney will then host two semi-finals on Saturday 4 January 2025, followed by the United Cup Final on Sunday 5 January 2025.
