We’ve seen some beautiful football venues on our travels, but the pitch at Kuramathi Maldives may just be one of the most stunning of the lot.
Located in the Rasdhoo Atoll, 56 kilometres west from Male’ International Airport, Kuramathi Maldives is a 1.8km-long island resort that’s home to 12 different room categories, 12 restaurants, six bars, a spa, a dive school, and a kids’ club. Kuramathi also has its own sports centre with facilities such as three swimming pools located around the island, a gymnasium, floodlit tennis court, and of course the stunning football pitch.
For accommodation at the family-friendly resort, guests can choose from one-bedroom Beach Villas, opt for the two-bedroom Beach House or an iconic over-water villa. Bageecha, Kuramathi’s kids’ club, is complimentary for children aged 3-12 years and features an indoor play area, reading corner, outside playground, BBQ area, two splash pads and a huge swimming pool. For the older children, sports such as badminton, football, ping pong, baseball and basketball are on offer in Bageecha’s grounds.
Elsewhere, the resort has a fully-equipped dive school with multi-lingual instructors who can guide divers of all skill levels through a range of PADI and SSI courses, including Bubblemaker (starting aged eight years) and dive sites where divers will swim alongside grey reef sharks, turtles, manta-rays, eagle rays and a myriad of other marine life.
Water sports include windsurfing, dinghy and catamaran where children aged 12 can take part in private lessons for an introduction to these unique sports. Experiences include a snorkelling safari, turtle discovery, dolphin discovery or the semi-submarine excursion for fun for the whole family.
Summer football camps for kids
In summer 2025, Kuramathi and Campioni Soccer Academy will host a series of football camps for children aged 4-15. Taking place across two weeks, three football icons will join the camps on the island resort: former Liverpool and England forward John Barnes from 28 July to 1 August, and former West Ham and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp who will be joined by ex-Nottingham Forest and England defender Stuart Pearce from 4-8 August.
The daily interactive and engaging training will see children not only practise fundamental skills but also learn the importance of teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. With consistent personal advice throughout the sessions, this is a chance to learn from the best in the game while creating unforgettable memories.
As part of the Campioni experience, families can enjoy a host of additional activities, including an invitation to the family welcome drinks, a midweek game where parents can play alongside the pros, and an end-of-week medal and certificate presentation. While the kids are busy sharpening their skills on the pitch, parents have the freedom to unwind across the resort.
