Football: 2025 English Women’s League Cup final

The English Women’s League Cup final is scheduled to take place on Saturday 15 March 2025 at Pride Park Stadium in Derby, marking the first time the venue will host this prestigious match. The competition, officially known as the Subway Women’s League Cup, features all teams from the Women’s Super League (WSL) and the Women’s Championship.

The tournament commenced on 2 October 2024, with a group stage divided regionally. Notably, teams participating in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City, entered the competition at the quarter-final stage, bypassing the group phase.

As of 2 February 2025, the competition has progressed to the semi-final stage. The semi-final fixtures are scheduled for 5-6 February 2025, with the winners advancing to the final on 15 March 2025.

Pride Park, home to Derby County FC since 1997, boasts a capacity of 32,944 seats. The stadium has previously hosted significant women’s football matches, including the 2009 Women’s FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Sunderland, which attracted 23,291 spectators.

Kicking off at 12.15pm local time, the 2025 final is expected to draw a substantial crowd, reflecting the growing popularity and support for women’s football in England. The match will be broadcast live on the BBC, providing widespread access to fans across the country.
